Ok Guy's this is what a good picture can do for a knife. Jim Cooper at SharpbyCoop did these.

Yeah, but the knifemaker is equally great in this case.

Very cool knife!

We've stopped giving Coop applause for doing great photos. Our hands hurt from doing it all the time!

Coop took this over the top. Chuck's Blade and HutcH's scrimshaw made me look good.
Now you guys know this knife will be Raffled off and I will bring tickets to the Jan. Meeting so save some of that Christmas money. There will be only 1000 tickets at 10.00 each. Thats pretty good odds on a raffle. The Coast Guard station on Attu is closed now. This knife and stand could be the only publicly owned documented artifacts of the battle of Attu. It is one of a kind.

My thanks to both of you too. I was a G.I.

Andy, please give some more details about the knife. What are the artifacts that are from Attu?

The blade was made from an exploded 105 arttillery shell. and a piece of spring off an abandon 2 1/2 ton truck that was left on the island. The guard and fittings were made fom these same artifacts. The Island of Attu on the pommel was cast from the brass of 2 M1 garrand rounds, the insets in the guard are the bases from those shell caseings. All Items for makeing this knife except for the Walrus Ivory and the 15N20 used in the Damascus are from Attu Island. If you go to the Custom Projects thread WWII Project you can follow this knife from 2008 till now. Here's a link http://knifenetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45952
I hope you njoy the reading. It was a long fun ride
