I was told a story about Holly. A well known maker put Holly on a nice dagger and sold it. A few years later he saw the knife on another table for sale. The tag noted the handle was made of IVORY. He corrected the person selling the knife and vowed never to use holly again. That said it does look a lot like ivory so long as it has been stabilized. Check out Gallery Hardwoods, Larry is about the only one I have found with stabilized holly. Good luck
