Question Putting "spring" back into a spring--?

Dear Ed,, I'm making some drawing and squairing dies for my press, and I want to connect the top die to the bottom die by using a leaf spring. I want to bend it around and make it into a long "U" shape "sideways".... I'll heat it and bend it to shape, but how do I go about making it "springy" again, without making it brittle? ---thanks! ---Jon

Just reharden it and temper it at 650 degrees for about an hour. It will be a spring again.
