Ed Caffrey/Harpoon Point Mosaic Bowie

Here's one that is ready for a new home. In other words... it's AVAILABLE!

"Harpoon Point" Bowie. 7" Blade of my own Mosaic Damascus, Flat grind/Convex edge, Bronze Guard/Spacers, Hawaiian Koa handle, that has been carved/textured, and finished with Tru-Oil. Blade has been coated/finished with satin clear Gun-Kote for added durability, and near zero maintenance.
Feel free to ask any questions, or contact me for price if interested.

Nice Ed. I really like the knurled part on the pommel end. What tools did you use to do the knurling?

I have several needle files that I have heated/shaped into circles and ovals. That is what's used for the outline. The actual texturing is done with a GRS 850 rotary/air tool (400,000 rpm) and a #8 carbide dental burr. Once the texturing in complete, I rub a single coat of Tru-Oil into the textured portion, then quickly go behind that with a dry microfiber towel so the Tru-Oil doesn't "pool" up and look horrible when it dries.

Beautiful Ed!!

I've not used Tru Oil before. Looks like this is well received across other industries for wood finishing. One of those EPA situations that this is not shipped into CA.

Did you use a stain on the koa too?

I've had a lot of Bladesmiths/Knifemakers who are located in CA tell me that. Seems a bit over the top to me...but then again, many of the things I see happening in that state I just have to shake my head and wonder what the lawmakers there are thinking.
