two new ones for your comment

Both of these are ground from 1/8th 1080. They have been edge quenched, triple tempered, hand rubbed to 400 grit and etched. I soaked the handle of the cord wraped one in thined polyurethane to make it more durable and super glued the wear points near the ricasso and the knot at the end.

Thanks,

Scott

Great looking knives! I really like the wharncliff. What did you etch with? Looking at the thumbnails I thought I was going to like the wrapped one better. I think the holes compete with the wrap though. Still the workmanship is great on both. 1 more question: when applying the poly to the wrap do you just dunk it or do you carefully dab it on so you dont get any on the steel? Did I say the wharncliff was cool?...

Thanks guys.

I etched them in ferric chloride.

For the wraping, I flowed thin super glue into the heavy wear points(near the ricasso, the knot and where I burried the ends). Then I dipped the handle in poly thinned with acetone. I did the whole handle to help protect the metal below the wraping from rust. I was careful not to let the poly show past the first wrap. When you look at it you can not see the poly.
