Buster has passed away.
I am very, very sad to report that Buster Warenski passed awasy last night, Sunday, July 31, due to a heart attack. I'm not up to saying much more at this point, only that our love and prayers go out to Julie and his family and myriad of firends who all mourn his loss, whom he made feel like family - like we were his borother or sister. The knife world is not the same today. Many of us will not be the same after today. What an honor to have known this great man and artist!
The funeral is Saturday. The family's address is: JULIE WARENSKI & FAMILY PO BOX 214 RICHFIELD UT 84627 __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift Last edited by Steve; 08-01-2005 at 04:50 PM. That is very sad news indeed! Have seen lots of his great pieces, but never got a chance to meet him. He will be missed, and yes the knife making community has suffered a great loss. Please send Julie my condolences, she and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

For those who've never had the choice opportunity to meet Buster, just realize that he was a man who was wonderful as his work. There is, nor will be, none better!

Buster was a good man. He took the time to teach me how to make silver sheaths. I enjoyed my time visiting and working with him. Both he and Julie came to the ABS school to teach us a couple of classes. Good folks. My thoughts go out to them.

My heart is heavy - Buster was my hero - I first saw his knives, along with Lloyd Hales, in 1975 at the Las Vegas show and still remember being taken by brilliance of both. Buster was without a doubt the best maker ever. For thirty years I rushed to his table to see his knives and marvel at his skill. I idolized this man and his work - for me the knife world will never be the same. My heart is heavy. Fred Carter

Buster's Passing
I registered for this forem so I could express my feelings concerning Buster's passing and give my condolences to Julie. I am so saddened to hear of his death. I knew Buster from the 1970's, and even though I have not been around the knife world for over ten years, I will always remember Buster as being a kind, gentle, gracious man....one of those very special people. I am so sorry.

Here's a Salt Lake City paper article on Buster:
http://www.sltrib.com/search/ci_2915362 What a terrible loss to us all. After a visit with Julie recently, she wants everyone to know how much she appreciates all the love and concern shown by everyone, literally world-wide. It has touched her and the whole family deeply. Numberless cards, flowers, phone calls. She really appreciates it. Here are some nice photos on the USN of some of Buster's knives: http://usualsuspect.net/forums/show...ighlight=buster Of course, there is his web site, also: www.warenskiknives.com __________________ __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift |
