Sloe gin and tonic; whew, that’s tough. Your boss, John, sounds like a cool guy. I was blessed to have several good bosses in my life. I’m thankful to remember the many things they taught me. I’ve also had some I cannot speak well of, so like my Mama taught me, “If you can’t say anything good about someone, don’t say anything at all.”

Funny, how when you’re 16, your parents don’t know anything, and by the time you’re 30, you realize they knew everything.

You know you might be getting really old when, the hair growing out of your ears gets long enough to braid.

Captain Beefheart was quite an artist as well as a musician.

I actually got to see Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band live at the Celebrity Theatre in Phx. It was a small club with a revolving stage and they were touring their hit album "Clear Spot". One of the trippiest concert I've ever seen. I also got front row seats to see Zappa and the Mothers there once. He came out in pink pajamas with little elephants on them. I never realized he was such a great lead guitar player,... a little sloppy, but some incredible licks!

Lowell George, who started Little Feat, was once in the Mothers of Invention. He brought his song, "Willin'" to Frank Zappa in hopes of recording it with the Mothers. Frank didn't like it because the song spoke openly of drug use, which he was absolutely opposed to. He told Lowell that he should probably find another band, as he didn't have much of a future with the Mothers...and the rest is history. Another member of the Mothers, left with him and was in Little Feat for their debut album. He later returned to the Mothers.

Years later Zappa was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. In a skit titled, "Midnight on Freak Mountain," found Frank wandering around a mountain top loaded with stumbling, stoned hippies. One approached Frank, and asked, "Hey man, you want some LSD?" to which Zappa thundered, "I AM LSD!"

Zappa was a genius in many ways, but more people have heard and loved "Willin'" than "A Nun Suit Painted on Some Old Boxes," or "Thang Fish."

I really liked "Cruisin' With Ruben and the Jets."

Hey Robert, good to see you back at it. Think we met in person a hunnert years ago down at the Twins in Statesboro, GA. Georgia Guild meeting.
Personally couldn't find the brakes and just kept making. Working on my 72nd trip around ol' Sol, still can't find the brake pedal but dragging a heavy chain behind the machine to slow a bit.
