I would weld a t-handle onto the bolt head so you can manipulate it without having to get out a wrench each time...
I'm just naturally lazy, I guess - oh, wait a minute, that's called "efficient"... __________________ Chris K. Two Mountains Forge Delta, BC, Canada www.twomountainsforge.com |

here's a couple pics , not mounted on the bench yet but you get the idea , works really good , very happy with it , I'll be using it mainly for finishing and sanding handles , blades I'll still do on a flat hard surface

Okay, now I get it. I guess I've never seen this type of vise. I didn't understand how that was going to work, but now it makes sense.

Looks good! Definitely sturdy, it would seem. That's the only problem with one of mine; there is a bit of play in the "joints" which is not an absolutley fatal flaw, but it's a bit annoying. So, be careful when you introduce the swivel base. It may take away some of the sturdyness (is there such a word??)
