David
Brodziak was born in Chatswood N.S.W. in 1948, he moved
to Perth with his family in 1957 where he grew up and
married Gail in 1972, in 1975 they moved to Albany on
the South Coast of Western Australia.
David's
interests have always included Art, Woodwork and Metalwork,
so when he began making knives in 1989, the transition
was compatible to his previous interests. Knifemaking
became a passion with David so it was no surprise when
he left his position as Dyer and Colorist at the Albany
Woolen Mills and began Knifemaking full-time at the
beginning of 1993.
Since then David has gone from strength to strength,
making a diverse range of knives, from practical working
knives to unique art knives using several types of blade
steel and a large variety of handle materials including
timbers from the goldfields of W.A. and beyond. He is
regularly coming up with new designs and styles, David's
knives are sold both nationally and internationally.
David has won many awards for his knives. The most
recent being:- Best Art Knife, Best Kitchen Knife, Best
Hunter and Best Small Game Knife at the Australian Knifemakers
Guild Show held in Melbourne, May 2000. Best show knife
at the National Custom Knife Show held in Perth, November
1999.
